Teenagers arrested after reckless chase in Perth suburbs
Two teenagers and a 25-year-old man have been charged after a dangerous high-speed chase in Perth’s southern suburbs. The incident began on Monday when police spotted a stolen Nissan X-Trail with fake license plates on Leach Highway around 8 am. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver took off. The police air wing tracked the car as it raced through areas including Cockburn, Bibra Lake, Murdoch, and South Lake. Footage shows the car mounting footpaths and driving on the wrong side of the road, narrowly avoiding other vehicles. The chase ended in a cul-de-sac on Gilbertson Road in Kardinya, where all three suspects were arrested. Authorities claim the vehicle was stolen from a home in Coolbellup over the weekend. The 17-year-old boy from Brookton faces several charges including reckless driving and motor vehicle theft. A 16-year-old girl from Waikiki has also been charged with stealing the car. The 25-year-old man will appear in court on April 15 for charges that include obstructing police and failing to ensure a passenger wore a seatbelt.
