Teens rescued from burning car after N.J. crash

Two teenagers were rescued from a burning car after a crash in West Milford, New Jersey, on Saturday night. The incident happened around 10:54 p.m. when police officers arrived at the scene. The driver, Ryan Devlin, 19, and the passenger, Christopher Ramos, 18, both from Butler, were trapped in the vehicle as smoke began to rise. Officer Peter Wunk and Officer Nicholas Soltesz quickly jumped into action. With the help of a good Samaritan, they removed Devlin from the car, while Soltesz rescued Ramos. Firefighters from the West Milford Fire Department responded and put out the fire. Both teens suffered serious injuries and were taken to St. Joseph’s University Hospital in Paterson for treatment. Officers Wunk and Soltesz received medical attention for minor injuries at Chilton Medical Center and were released the next morning. The car was reportedly driving north on Clinton Road when it went off the road and down an embankment. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
