The Telangana government has announced a budget of ₹22,000 crore for the development of Hyderabad in the fiscal year 2024-25. The IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, highlighted that the government prioritizes the city's growth under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area. During a discussion in the Assembly, Mr. Sridhar Babu revealed plans to complete elevated roads from Paradise Junction to Dairy Farm Road and from Paradise to Shamirpet Junction within three years. He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to the Musi River rejuvenation project, which aims to improve the living conditions for residents near the river. He addressed concerns about funding for the Musi project, stating that 2,166 structures in the riverbed have been identified for relocation. So far, 309 families have agreed to move, and those displaced will receive compensation as part of the resettlement packages. He disputed claims that 16,000 properties were marked for eviction, insisting that the Musi project is more than just a beautification effort. Regarding the city's drinking water supply, the Minister criticized the previous government for failing to support water supply projects. He mentioned that the current government is investing ₹7,360 crore in the Godavari Phase 2 and 3 projects to help meet Hyderabad's water demands.
