The Telangana government has assured that it will not take any land from the Hyderabad Central University. Minister D Sridhar Babu confirmed this in the assembly on Monday. He said the government would protect the university's land, two lakes, and rock formations. Students had expressed worries about the safety of the university land. This concern was fueled by rumors that the government was planning to auction 400 acres of land in Kancha Gachibowli. Minister Babu stated that these rumors are false and are being spread by some individuals with hidden agendas. Babu emphasized that both he and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka are alumni of HCU and are committed to protecting it. He clarified that the land in question is not owned by the university, reassuring stakeholders of the government's intentions. Addressing concerns about real estate in the area, Babu defended the government's HYDRAA project, saying it has been successful. He noted that many petitions have been received regarding property issues and emphasized that there is no connection between HYDRAA and real estate declines. In a separate comment, opposition leader Akbaruddin Owaisi highlighted ongoing water supply problems in the city. He urged the government to prepare a summer plan to address drinking water shortages. Owaisi also called on the Congress government to fulfill its promises related to minority welfare or face criticism from his party.
