Telangana Government to improve Overseas Scholarship Scheme fairness
The Telangana Government plans to hold a meeting with all political parties. The aim is to improve the Overseas Scholarship Scheme for students. They want to ensure that only truly poor students benefit from this program. MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi raised concerns in the Legislative Assembly. He said that students from wealthy families are unfairly receiving scholarships. He pointed out that there is no proper verification of credentials for those applying for economically backward class certificates. Owaisi conducted a survey that showed this issue. Owaisi also asked for information on students who returned after studying abroad. He questioned how many returned to serve their communities. He proposed developing a plan to recover funds from students who settle abroad instead of contributing to the state. BRS member Palla Rajeshwar Reddy supported Owaisi's suggestion. He noted that the previous government had better processes for reviewing applications. Members from other parties, including the BJP and CPI, also agreed on the need for stricter checks. They emphasized that the government should focus on helping deserving students.
