Telangana health department assures readiness for Human Metapneumovirus challenges
Telangana's health department is prepared for potential Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) challenges, with nearly 100,000 hospital beds available. The state is following guidelines from the Union Ministry of Health and has issued public advisories. HMPV, identified in 2001, is not new and poses no significant threat, according to health officials. Symptoms are generally mild, affecting mainly children and seniors. The state has adequate medical resources, including oxygen and ventilators. Current data shows a decrease in influenza and Severe Acute Respiratory Infections cases in December 2024 compared to the previous year. The National Centre for Disease Control has not confirmed any new HMPV cases, indicating no cause for alarm.
