Telangana High Court dismisses drone case against Reddy
A judge from the Telangana High Court has canceled a criminal case against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The case was filed by Narsingi police in Cyberabad for allegedly flying a drone over the farmhouse of K.T. Rama Rao, a local MLA. The case dates back to 2020 when Reddy was serving as an MP for Malkajgiri. He was accused of invading Rao’s privacy by using a drone to take pictures and videos of the farmhouse. The police charged Reddy under several sections of the Indian Penal Code along with the Aircraft Act of 1935. During the hearing, Judge K. Lakshman stated that the area where the drone was operated was not a restricted zone. He also pointed out that the legal sections cited against Reddy were not applicable. The judge found that the evidence from witnesses did not support the allegations. Furthermore, Judge Lakshman criticized the investigating officer for improperly adding charges to the case after it was filed. This was seen as a violation of legal procedures.
