Telangana increases minorities budget to ₹3,591 crore
The Telangana government has announced a larger budget for minority welfare in the 2025-26 financial year. The allocation is ₹3,591 crore, which is an increase from last year's ₹2,997.01 crore. This marks a rise of ₹593 crore. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu highlighted the government's commitment to the welfare and security of minorities. A significant part of the budget will focus on youth from minority communities. The Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme will receive ₹840 crore to help with self-employment opportunities for young people. The budget also includes plans to integrate schools run by the Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMREIS) with the newly established Young India Residential Schools (YIRS). This integration aims to foster a sense of unity among students of different backgrounds. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy emphasized the importance of mixing students from all communities. He believes that separating students based on caste and religion can lead to negative impacts on their minds. Officials clarified that TMREIS schools will not merge with YIRS but will have shared facilities in new school complexes. This way, students will have access to libraries, playgrounds, and other amenities together. The integration plans will not affect schools built under the Multi-Sectoral Development Plan for TMREIS.
