Telangana judge fines petitioner ₹1 crore for legal abuse
A judge in the Telangana High Court has ordered a petitioner to pay ₹1 crore for misusing the legal process. Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka made this ruling on Tuesday, saying the petitioner's actions had put unnecessary pressure on the judicial system. The petitioner, Venkata Rami Reddy, claimed to own a piece of land in Hyderabad. He alleged that local authorities were blocking his ability to register sale deeds for the property. However, Justice Bheemapaka pointed out that Reddy was not being honest about the facts of the case. The judge noted that already-existing disputes over the land indicated Reddy was involved in frivolous litigation. He accused Reddy of filing misleading petitions using false documents while knowing that a related case was still pending. Reddy must pay the costs by April 10, or his case will be discussed again on April 11. The judge emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the court system. He stressed that unnecessary legal actions like this one hinder the court's ability to deliver justice effectively.
