Telangana launches GraamPay to enhance rural financial access
Telangana's IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu recently launched GraamPay at Viyona Fintech's headquarters in Hyderabad. This new platform aims to improve digital financial access in rural India by providing secure payment solutions. GraamPay will help rural users connect with efficient digital payment options. It targets the over 65% of India's population that lives in rural areas, where access to financial services is limited. The platform is designed to support quick and safe transactions, assisting local entrepreneurs, small traders, and farmers by reducing their reliance on cash. During the launch, Minister Babu highlighted the significant role of technology in enhancing financial inclusion. He stated, "GraamPay is an important initiative that aligns with India's vision for digital and financial inclusion." He emphasized that financial access should be a right for all citizens, not just a privilege for a few. The platform utilizes a Village-Level Entrepreneur (VLE) model. This means trained individuals help their communities by promoting digital payments and guiding rural merchants. These local entrepreneurs will also provide education on secure transactions to encourage digital adoption. Ravindranath Yarlagadda, the Chairman of Viyona Fintech, confirmed the company's goal to improve financial inclusion. He described GraamPay as a significant step toward building a digitally empowered rural economy. GraamPay aims to support India's shift toward a cashless economy by combining digital commerce with secure financial services. It offers features like e-commerce integration, quick payment processing, and compliance with bank regulations. This helps create a reliable financial environment that meets the needs of rural communities. As digital technology continues to spread, GraamPay is expected to change how businesses and financial transactions operate in rural areas. The platform is now accessible for rural entrepreneurs, merchants, and consumers, encouraging them to participate in India’s digital shift.
