Telangana to launch Women’s Entrepreneurship Training Academy
The Telangana government is looking to create a Women's Entrepreneurship Training Academy. This academy aims to help women gain the skills they need to become successful business owners, according to IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu. The main focus of the proposed academy will be on skilling, reskilling, and upskilling women. This initiative is part of a broader goal to empower women economically. During a discussion in the Assembly, Mr. Sridhar Babu noted that the government also plans to establish mini-industrial parks for women in every Assembly constituency. He criticized the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government for neglecting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). He claimed that their lack of a solid MSME policy harmed development efforts. The new government has introduced a MSME policy that aims to provide incentives and subsidies for women entrepreneurs. They hope this will help achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2050. In the first phase, the government plans to set up mini-industrial parks in 20 of the state's 119 Assembly segments. Work is scheduled to begin in early April. Mr. Sridhar Babu pointed out that the BRS focused development only on certain areas, while the Congress government aims to support less developed regions. As part of the 'Telangana Rising' initiative, promoting women’s entrepreneurship is a priority for driving industrial growth. The Minister emphasized that women’s involvement is critical for achieving the state’s economic goals. Plans also include creating an industrial park for women in Future City and developing flatted factory complexes to aid women entrepreneurs. Special help for single women and single mothers in Self-Help Groups is also being considered.
