Telangana unveils ₹3.04 lakh crore budget for 2025-26
The Telangana Government has announced a budget of ₹3.04 lakh crore for the 2025-26 financial year. This is the first time the budget has surpassed the ₹3 lakh crore mark since the state was formed. The new budget is about 5% larger than last year’s budget, which was ₹2.91 lakh crore. The budget includes ₹2.26 lakh crore for revenue and ₹36,504 crore for capital expenditure. The government will rely heavily on borrowing, estimating about ₹70,000 crore, including ₹64,539 crore in open market loans. It projects a surplus of ₹2,738 crore but a fiscal deficit of ₹54,009 crore. Significant allocations are made for various welfare programs. Agriculture will receive ₹24,439 crore, while education will get ₹23,108 crore. The welfare of backward classes, scheduled castes, and scheduled tribes is prioritized, with total allocations nearing ₹69,000 crore. Programs promised by the Congress party will get ₹56,084 crore. Revenue for the state is anticipated at ₹2.29 lakh crore. Of this, ₹1.45 lakh crore will come from state taxes, while central tax shares and other non-tax receipts will contribute a smaller portion. Significant funding is also allocated for energy, with ₹21,221 crore aimed at completing the Yadadri Thermal Power Plant. The government aims to provide equal resources across society, focused on various community needs. Telangana's growth is reflected in its economic indicators. The state’s gross domestic product is expected to reach ₹16.12 lakh crore, with a growth rate of 10.1%. The per capita income is reported at ₹3.79 lakh, which is significantly higher than the national average. The government emphasizes that these economic plans are designed to support farmers, students, and women, aiming for overall empowerment and equality.
