Telangana's tourism policy targets top five tourist arrivals
Telangana has launched its Tourism Policy for 2025-2030, effective from March 17, 2025. The goal is to make Telangana one of the top five states for both domestic and international tourist visits. The state aims to attract ₹15,000 crores in new investments in tourism over the next five years. It also hopes to create job opportunities for 300,000 people and increase the tourism contribution to the state's GDP to 10% or more. The policy will promote various forms of tourism, including spiritual, heritage, culture, adventure, medical and wellness, as well as eco-tourism. The government plans to improve infrastructure and services to enhance the overall tourist experience. Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao believes this initiative will significantly boost the tourism sector. A key focus of the policy is Safe Tourism. This includes establishing tourist police units and patrols in popular areas. Specific measures will be taken to protect female tourists, such as implementing safety standards and installing CCTV cameras at major tourist sites. The Tourism Policy outlines a framework for different types of tourism, including Eco-Tourism, Medical and Wellness Tourism, Spiritual Tourism, MICE tourism (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), and Sports Tourism. This comprehensive approach aims to provide a rich and engaging experience for all visitors.
