Telo Trucks reveals MT1 electric mini-truck prototype in Los Angeles

A new electric mini-truck prototype has been unveiled by Telo Trucks, a startup based in California. The MT1, presented at an event in Los Angeles, combines the practicality of a full-sized truck with the compact size of a Mini Cooper SE. This design offers an alternative to the larger vehicles that dominate the U.S. market, making it suitable for both city use and outdoor activities. The MT1 is 152 inches long and can comfortably hold five adults. It features a 60-inch truck bed and a unique folding midgate, allowing it to transport larger items like surfboards or plywood sheets. This makes it practical for various tasks, from running errands to weekend adventures. There are two performance options for the MT1. The base model has a rear-wheel-drive system with 300 horsepower and can travel about 260 miles on a single charge. The upgraded version has all-wheel-drive, 500 horsepower, and a range of 350 miles, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in around four seconds. Both models can recharge from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. The truck also features eco-friendly materials like biodegradable cork in its interior. It includes advanced safety technology and flexible configurations, allowing for more space or seating for up to eight people. The starting price of the MT1 will be approximately $41,520. While full production is expected to take a couple of years, Telo Trucks is currently testing prototypes for safety and durability. The company has received over 5,000 preorders, totaling more than $250 million, indicating strong interest in this innovative vehicle. Overall, the Telo MT1 presents an exciting option that challenges the traditional truck design, but it will face challenges as it moves towards production and market entry.
