Teltumbde seeks court's permission for international travel
Dr. Anand Teltumbde, an accused in the 2018 Bhima Koregaon violence case, has approached the Bombay High Court for permission to travel abroad. He wants to go to the Netherlands and the United Kingdom from April 1 to May 15. Teltumbde is a Dalit scholar and has received invitations from several universities for academic assignments. He emphasized that while he was granted bail in November 2022, the conditions set did not clarify how he could apply to travel outside India. The court has directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to respond to Teltumbde's request. The next hearing is set for April 2. Teltumbde is asking for the release of his passport so he can complete his visa applications for the universities that invited him. This is the first time he is seeking permission to travel abroad, although he has previously received approval to move within the country.
