Temple promotes diabetes management through Buddhist teachings
The Ministry of Public Health is supporting a pilot project to convert a temple into a community health center focused on diabetes management. The initiative uses Buddhist teachings to promote healthy lifestyles. At Wat Asomthammathayat in Nakhon Ratchasima, 60% of at-risk participants achieved normal blood sugar levels, and 98% saw improvements in their HbA1c levels. The program is expanding to other temples, including Wat Dao Rueang and Wat Si Chomphu. Over 20 additional temples have shown interest in joining the effort.
