Tens of thousands evacuate as Typhoon Man-yi approaches Philippines
Typhoon Man-yi is approaching the Philippines, prompting authorities to order evacuations in coastal areas. About 255,000 people have left their homes as the storm is expected to intensify before making landfall, with wind gusts reaching 215 kilometers per hour. This storm marks the sixth major weather event to hit the Philippines in a month, following a series of deadly storms that have killed at least 163 people. Evacuation centers are filling up, with concerns about safety in some facilities. All vessels have been ordered to return to shore, and warnings have been issued about potential landslides and flooding. Heavy rainfall from Man-yi could also trigger volcanic sediment flows from nearby volcanoes.
