Tesla Megapacks power up Western Australia's largest battery project ahead of schedule
Western Australia has launched its largest battery project, the Collie Battery Stage 1, powered by Tesla Megapacks. The project, with a capacity of 219 MW/877 MWh, became operational on October 1, ahead of schedule. Neoen, the renewable provider behind the project, aims to support the state's energy transition as coal plants retire and solar energy use increases. The battery can store energy for four hours and will help manage peak demand. Construction for Collie Battery Stage 2 is already underway, which will add another 341 MW/1,363 MWh. Together, both stages will provide a total capacity of 560 MW/2,240 MWh.
