Thailand intensifies crackdown on illegal goods and businesses

Officials are increasing efforts to combat illegal goods and foreign-owned proxy businesses, with damages estimated at 16 billion baht. Legal action has been taken in over 24,600 cases, resulting in damages exceeding 1.25 billion baht. Authorities collected about 1.5 billion baht in value-added tax from low-priced imports. There has also been an 8% drop in e-commerce imports, averaging a monthly decline of 3.64 billion baht. The crackdown includes stricter inspections of imported goods and online products to ensure safety and quality. Legal action has been initiated against 851 proxy businesses, with damages estimated at 15.12 billion baht.
