The Thanjavur district administration has announced new rules for industrial units in rural areas. All businesses, whether small or large, must follow these rules to set up operations. According to a recent release, businesses must get permission from local authorities under Government Order number 170. This order was issued by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department on November 11, 2024. To obtain this permission, businesses must pay a fee of ₹150 for each square meter of built-up area. This applies to all types of industrial units. Micro units, which invest up to ₹5 lakhs, small units with investments between ₹5 and ₹7.50 lakhs, medium units investing from ₹7.50 lakhs to ₹10 lakhs, and large industries investing ₹10 lakhs or more must comply. Businesses need to submit various documents for approval. These documents include a no-objection certificate from the fire service, land ownership or lease papers, and other relevant certificates. Applications should be submitted through the Block Development Officers and Assistant Director for Village Panchayats.
