The Arcade on Detroit opens in Lakewood this April
A new barcade called The Arcade on Detroit will open in Lakewood, Ohio, this April. Owner Dan Deagan is returning to the space where he previously operated Deagan's Kitchen and Bar for 13 years. Deagan's closed in late 2023, and the space went through various ownerships and concepts before settling on the new idea. The barcade will feature a mix of vintage and new arcade games, including pinball machines, air hockey, pool, and Skee ball. Deagan plans to have at least 40 games and will adjust the selection based on what patrons enjoy. Unlike the nearby 16-Bit Bar + Arcade, The Arcade on Detroit will charge for game play, with older games costing 25 cents and newer games up to $1. The space has been updated with new decor and more room for games. It will have a lively atmosphere with music and a jukebox. Open seven days a week, the bar will be mostly for those 21 and over, but all ages can visit on weekends from noon to 5 p.m. The menu will include classic bar food like pizza and wings, along with 28 beers on tap and various cocktails, including fun options like fishbowls. Deagan is also considering running leagues for games like pinball. A unique promotion will be a reverse cover charge on Mondays, where customers will receive $5 just for entering. Deagan shares his excitement, recalling how much he loved visiting arcades as a child.
