The Cat in the Hat releases February 27, 2026

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has changed the release date for its animated film, The Cat in the Hat. Originally set for March 6, 2026, the movie will now debut earlier on February 27, 2026. Bill Hader voices the main character, the Cat. He also serves as an executive producer for the film. The project began after Warner Bros. gained the rights from Seuss Enterprises. The directing team has seen some changes. Alessandro Carloni now directs the film, having replaced Art Hernandez. Carloni also wrote the script, working alongside Erica Rivinoja. The voice cast features other stars, including Quinta Brunson, Bowen Yang, Xochitl Gomez, and Matt Berry. The story will focus on the Cat helping two siblings adjust to their new town. The original book by Dr. Seuss has been adapted multiple times. A live-action version in 2003 starring Mike Myers received negative reviews from critics. Dr. Seuss' widow later expressed concerns about Hollywood adaptations of his work. Warner Bros. executive Bill Damaschke expressed excitement about bringing this beloved story to life for audiences of all ages.
