The new Looney Tunes movie tops family films
The new Looney Tunes movie is gaining popularity on Blu-ray. The film, titled The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie, features Daffy Duck and Porky Pig. It is the first full-length, fully animated Looney Tunes movie to hit theaters. Despite earning about $6 million worldwide, it has become the top family film at the box office. The movie is also a best seller on Amazon. Pre-orders for its Blu-ray release, scheduled for May 27, have been very strong. It has sold more copies than recent films like Mickey 17 and Dog Man. Ketchup Entertainment, an independent production company, helped bring the movie to life. The film was initially set for Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming service but was shelved in 2022. It eventually premiered at the Annecy Animation Festival last summer and was released in U.S. theaters on March 14. So far, The Day the Earth Blew Up has earned nearly $4 million in the U.S. and about $2 million internationally. Even though it is expected to be the lowest-grossing Looney Tunes movie, fans are excited about its return to hand-drawn animation. The movie features Porky Pig and Daffy Duck trying to save Earth from an alien invasion. The voice work for the characters is done by Eric Bauza. The film is now showing in theaters and will be available on Blu-ray later this year.
