Theatre festival starts March 22 in Mysuru

Mysuru is set to host a six-day theatre festival starting on Saturday. The event is organized by Rangayana, in partnership with several local theatre groups and cultural organizations. It aims to celebrate World Theatre Day with a variety of activities. The festival will officially open on March 22 at 6 pm at Bhoomigeetha. KM Gayathri, the director of the Kannada and culture department, will lead the inauguration. Notable guests will include Chamaraja MLA K Harishgowda and theatre director KR Sumathi. Throughout the festival, attendees can enjoy seminars, folk events, and theatre songs. The seminar on March 23 will focus on the development of the theatre movement and will be inaugurated by IPS officer Dharanidevi Malagatti. Well-known theatre figures will lead discussions on important themes during the seminar. Various stage plays will also be performed during the festival. On March 23, Rangayana’s senior artists will present “Mr Bogis.” Other performances include “Uruvi” on March 24 and “Bankapurada Bayalata” on March 25, showcasing talented troupes from Mysuru and Bengaluru. Tickets for the festival are priced at Rs 100 each, with a season ticket available for Rs 300. The festival will conclude on March 27 with special celebrations for World Theatre Day.
