Thieves steal valuables from hotel during wedding in Bengaluru

Bengaluru police are investigating a theft that occurred in a hotel room during a family wedding. The incident took place on March 16 at Hotel Amulya Fine Dine, located near the White Pearl Convention Hall in Bellahalli. The theft was reported by 59-year-old Lalitha R, who had been attending her niece's wedding. She and other family members had booked around 15 rooms for their guests. After the wedding reception, Lalitha and a group of women returned to their room around 12:30 a.m. When they woke up at 4:15 a.m. to prepare for the next day’s events, Lalitha discovered the room's door was open. Thieves had broken the lock and stolen her gold chain, weighing about 30 grams, along with three mobile phones. The total value of the stolen items is estimated to be around Rs 2.5 lakh. Lalitha explained that she filed the complaint four days after the theft because the family was busy with wedding celebrations. Police have filed a case under sections related to theft and housebreaking. They are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel to help identify the thief.
