Thousands in British Columbia lose power as bomb cyclone hits coastal areas
A bomb cyclone has left thousands in British Columbia without power. As of Wednesday morning, about 95,000 BC Hydro customers were affected, down from a peak of 270,000. Most outages are on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands. Strong winds are expected to continue, with gusts reaching up to 100 km/h. BC Hydro crews are working to restore power but face challenges due to debris and unsafe conditions. Several BC Ferries sailings were canceled, and some highways on Vancouver Island remain closed due to downed power lines and fallen trees.
