Thousands in Texas, New Mexico without power from wildfires
Two major wildfires in Texas have burned over 27,000 acres, with the Windmill Fire 65% contained and the Rest Area Fire 40% contained. Evacuations have occurred in nearby communities, but no structural damage has been reported. Thousands of customers in Texas and New Mexico remain without power due to strong winds and a dust storm. Xcel Energy warned that some may be without power into early next week, with outages peaking at over 67,000. Wind gusts reached up to 83 mph, causing significant disruptions. While conditions improved slightly on Saturday, dry weather and elevated fire risks persist in the region.
