Three boys charged with rape in Rochdale incident
Three boys, aged 13, 14, and 15, have been charged with rape in connection with an incident that occurred in Rochdale last year. The police stated that each boy faces one count of raping a female under the age of 16. Additionally, they are all charged together with two more counts of the same offense. The reported incident took place on February 10, 2024, in Newbold, Rochdale. The boys are scheduled to appear in Manchester Youth Court on March 24, 2025. A fourth boy was arrested in the case but has been released without charge. The victim is receiving support from specially trained officers. Detective Superintendent Phil Key emphasized the thorough investigation that led to the charges. He also highlighted the importance of protecting the victim’s wellbeing throughout the process. Key warned the public against speculating on the names of those involved, as it is illegal to disclose the identities of individuals under 18. Such speculation could jeopardize justice and lead to legal consequences for those who name the boys.
