Three charged with animal cruelty in Ludhiana
Three people in Ludhiana have been charged with animal cruelty in two separate incidents. The cases involve the killing of puppies and pet pigeons. Varinder Singh from Ranian village is accused of killing two puppies and seriously injuring another. This came to light after a shocking video showing him abusing the puppies was shared with animal welfare activists. Mani Singh, the president of Help for Animals, filed a complaint with the police after receiving the video via WhatsApp. The police have registered a case under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. They confirmed that Varinder Singh has not yet been arrested. In another incident, two men, Amarjit Singh and Gurpreet Singh, were charged with killing six pet pigeons in Saholi village. The pigeons belonged to their friend, Parminder Singh, who raises them for racing. Parminder said the men came to his house pretending to check the pigeons’ speed and instead killed them. Police reports indicate that the accused were intoxicated during the act. A case has also been filed against them under relevant sections of the law. Both men have a history of drug-related crimes.
