Three Chihuahuas rescued from deadly Springfield house fire
Three Chihuahuas are fighting for their lives after they were rescued from a house fire in Springfield. The dogs, named Daylilah, Peluche, and Savanna, survived the blaze that took the lives of several other pets. Veterinarians at a local hospital are working hard to save the Chihuahuas. They are in “severe respiratory distress” and may have neurological issues. The MSPCA’s Mike Keiley explained that the dogs' owners gave them up because of their serious health concerns. After their treatment began, the dogs were moved to the MSPCA’s facility in Boston. There, they received intensive care from skilled veterinarians and advanced medical equipment. Keiley expressed hope that the dogs will improve and eventually find new homes. Currently, the Chihuahuas are receiving oxygen and various medications. The MSPCA is monitoring their progress closely. Keiley noted that the dogs are “fighters” and are doing everything they can to survive. The care for the Chihuahuas is expected to exceed $20,000. The MSPCA is encouraging donations to support their recovery and will share updates about the dogs on social media.
