Three children missing in Garra river, Uttar Pradesh

Three children are feared drowned in the Garra river in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. They went missing while bathing in the river on Monday, March 24, 2025. The children, identified as Shahrukh (12), Shoaib (14), and Akhlaq (11), had gone to the riverbank to graze goats. While there, they decided to swim but got caught in deep water. Zeeshan, Shahrukh's brother, saw them struggling and quickly ran home to get help. Police were dispatched to the scene with a flood unit and trained divers, but the children have not yet been found. Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi stated that a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is on its way from Lucknow. Local police are also assisting in the ongoing search operation.
