Three history sheeters arrested after police encounter in Ludhiana

Police in Ludhiana arrested three men after they were injured in a gunfight on Friday. The suspects, Mudit Sood, Abhijit Mand, and Ankush Yadav, are all history-sheeters and were wanted for making an extortion call worth ₹50 lakh to a local businessman. The shootout occurred around 2 am in Khedi village. Police received a tip and set up a checkpoint to stop a car without registration plates. When the officers signaled the vehicle to stop, the occupants fired at them, prompting police to return fire. The suspects were injured and taken to a local hospital, where their condition is stable. Authorities seized two illegal pistols and the car involved in the incident. This is the fourth gunfight in the district in just 12 days. The extortion case began after a travel agent received a threatening call on March 16. The callers claimed connections to a US-based gangster and threatened to harm the victim's family if their demands were not met. The three suspects have multiple charges against them, including attempted murder and extortion. A new case for attempted murder has also been filed against them following this incident.
