Three men arrested for 2022 Willimantic shooting
Three men have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that happened in Willimantic in 2022. The arrests followed a long investigation that lasted three years. On October 13, 2022, a verbal argument between several people turned into a fight. This escalating situation led to gunfire on Spring Street. Fortunately, no one was injured. According to police, the motive for the conflict is still unclear but may be related to a drug dispute. Jared Elijah Gonzalez, 24, was arrested on March 7 at Danielson Superior Court. He faces charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree assault and is being held on a $500,000 bond. Brian Fortuno-Serrano, 21, was arrested on March 12. He is charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment, and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault. He also has a bond set at $500,000. Jose Cardona, 23, was arrested on Tuesday. Like Fortuno-Serrano, he is charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, unlawful discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment, and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault. His bond is also set at $500,000.
