Three Pennsylvania high school hockey teams win championships

The 2025 high school hockey season in Pennsylvania has concluded, with champions named in multiple leagues. The east region continues to dominate, winning prestigious titles again this year. In the Pennsylvania Cup state championship, Seneca Valley claimed the Class 3A title by defeating Holy Ghost Prep with a score of 7-2. This victory marks a historic win for Seneca Valley, as it is their first Pennsylvania Cup after also winning the Penguins Cup just days earlier. North Penn took home the Class 2A championship by beating Cathedral Prep 4-1. Cathedral Prep had earlier won the Penguins Cup in a close 5-4 overtime game against Fox Chapel. In the Class A championship, Garnet Valley topped Avonworth with a score of 7-2, highlighting their skill in the playoffs. Avonworth had previously won the Penguins Cup after a decisive 7-1 victory over Mars Fightin’ Planets. Additionally, Burrell secured the first-ever Division 2 state championship by overcoming Pope John Paul II with a strong 8-3 finish. Overall, the season featured thrilling matches, including several overtime games and multiple close contests, showcasing the competitive spirit of high school hockey in the state.
