Three stolen trolleys recovered; theft linked to MLA cousin
Authorities in Punjab are investigating a recent theft involving three trolleys taken from a protest site in Shambhu, Patiala district. A local resident, Ramandeep Singh, known as Tinku, has been identified as the suspect. Police found the trolleys in a workshop owned by Singh in Lohsimbli village. Farmers at the protest site reported the missing trolleys, prompting police action. Deputy Superintendent of Police Harmanpreet Singh announced that Singh would be arrested soon. The farmers' union has raised concerns about the theft, believing it to be part of a larger issue affecting their community. Bikram Singh Majithia, a leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), accused AAP MLA Gurlal Ghanaur of having connections to the theft, a claim the MLA vehemently denies. The MLA stated he has no link to the accused and emphasized his support for farmers during their protests. Majithia called for an FIR against Ghanaur, claiming that farmers are being exploited. In response, Ghanaur clarified that allegations about the stolen trolleys being found at his house are false. He asserted his commitment to helping the farmers and urged police to act swiftly against those responsible for the theft. The police have filed a case against Singh under new legislation, as the recent farmer protests have highlighted ongoing demands for legal assurance on minimum support prices for crops.
