Three suspects arrested in 2019 Prayagraj murder case
Police in Prayagraj have solved a six-year-old case involving the rape and murder of a woman. Three suspects were arrested on Tuesday. The suspects, Anil Kumar Tiwari, Rakesh Kumar Saroj, and Sheetla Prasad Saroj, live in the Kohdaur and Kandhai areas. The crime took place in Barha village on August 17, 2019. A case was officially registered on May 16, 2023. It includes serious charges under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code and the SC/ST Act. The main suspect, Anil Tiwari, had a prior relationship with the victim. After her husband passed away in 2009, she received money and a pension. She was illiterate and relied on Tiwari to manage her finances. Reports suggest that Tiwari gave her a dangerous injection, causing her to lose consciousness. He allegedly sold her land to a relative of another suspect. When the woman discovered the fraud and asked for her money back, Tiwari lured her to a field with false promises. There, he and his accomplices are accused of raping and killing her. Police are now reviewing how officers at the Kandhai police station handled the case from 2019 to 2023.
