Three teenagers charged in ITE College West bullying
Three teenagers have been charged in connection with bullying another student at ITE College West in Singapore. They faced charges of rioting on March 15 after an alleged attack occurred on March 12. The group gathered unlawfully on a staircase landing at the college, where they reportedly assaulted the victim. A 45-second video of the incident began circulating on social media the same day. The footage shows two of the teenagers punching and kicking the victim, while at least three others watched. The teenagers charged are two 16-year-olds and an 18-year-old. Their identities remain private since they were under 18 at the time of the incident. The court documents indicate they meant to hurt the victim. The prosecution has requested four weeks to continue their investigations. The three will return to court on April 11. If convicted of rioting, they could face up to seven years in prison and caning. The principal of ITE College West, Ms. Alice Seow, stated that the students have been suspended during the ongoing court cases. She emphasized the college's commitment to student safety and noted that the injured student has since been released from the hospital, receiving support from the school and his family. In a related incident, another video of a bullying case involving Montfort Secondary School students surfaced in February. Those involved were disciplined, and police investigations are still in progress regarding that matter.
