Three universities submit proposals for Hong Kong's third medical school
Hong Kong is preparing to establish a third medical school, more than 40 years after the second one opened. Three universities have submitted their proposals to the government. These universities are the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Baptist University, and Polytechnic University. A team of experts will review the proposals. The decision on which university will be chosen is expected in the coming months. The new medical school was announced by Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu in October of last year. It aims to help solve the shortage of doctors in the city. The third school will also support Hong Kong's ambition to become a leader in health and medical innovation. Each of the three universities has shared some details about their plans for the new school, which will be located in the Northern Metropolis. Experts and lawmakers have noted that each proposal has its unique advantages. However, it is still unclear which university is leading in this competitive process.
