Three women lawyers become AFP reserve lieutenant colonels
Three women leaders have been promoted to Lieutenant Colonels in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Reserve Force. They are DOJ Undersecretary Atty. Margarita Gutierrez, ARTA Director Atty. Concepcion Ferolino-Enad, and Quezon City Deputy Prosecutor Atty. Irene Resurreccion-Medrano. They completed a Master’s program in National Security Administration. The formal promotion took place during a ceremony on March 17. This event recognized their dedication to public service and national security. Their new ranks highlight their commitment to safeguard the nation amid current political and social challenges. In her speech, Gutierrez emphasized the importance of their mission. She spoke about the various threats facing society and the need for empathy and understanding. She encouraged her fellow officers to rise above ordinary service and be extraordinary leaders. Other officials were also promoted. Eleazar Ricote, Julan Ilao, and Roberto Salvador were commissioned as Lieutenant Colonels. Additionally, several Colonels were promoted to Brigadier General, and one was elevated to Major General. The commissioning of Gutierrez, Ferolino-Enad, and Resurreccion-Medrano during Women's Month emphasizes the growing role of women in leadership. Their achievements inspire future generations of female leaders in public service and defense.
