Three women's health drugs will become cheaper in Australia
Three women's health medications will become cheaper in Australia starting May 1. Ryeqo, an endometriosis treatment, Pergoveris for IVF, and the Slinda contraceptive pill will be added to the pharmaceutical benefits scheme. Ryeqo will help about 8,500 women with severe endometriosis pain. Pergoveris will cost $32 per IVF cycle, down from $3,500, making it more accessible. Slinda's annual cost will drop from $320 to about $94 for general patients. Health Minister Mark Butler stated these changes will improve the quality of life for many women. The government faced criticism for delays in implementing these subsidies, which were recommended in March 2024.
