Three WPIAL girls teams reach PIAA championships
Three girls' basketball teams from the WPIAL are headed to the PIAA championship games. Archbishop Wood, South Fayette, and Shady Side Academy will represent their districts in Hershey for the finals. Archbishop Wood has a strong history in state playoffs. The girls have made it to the championship game 12 times in the last 16 years, winning nine titles. They will face South Fayette in the 5A final, marking their second meeting in three years. Shady Side Academy will compete in the Class 3A final against Loyalsock Township. The Lions, another team making the trip, is set to take on Upper St. Clair in the Class 6A championship. The games will take place at the GIANT Center in Hershey. The championship matchups are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, with a variety of results from earlier rounds highlighting the competitive nature of the tournament. Fans will look forward to exciting battles for state gold in each classification.
