Thrift store bracelet valued at over $700 discovered
A man in Rhode Island found a valuable bracelet at a local thrift store for only $2.99. The bracelet, made of 18 karat gold and pure silver, is from the luxury brand David Yurman and is worth about $750. Matthew Betancourt, a 37-year-old reseller, made the discovery. He shares his finds on social media, where he goes by the name @RetroToyEnvy. Betancourt has been reselling for around 15 years, focusing on jewelry and collectibles. In a YouTube video, Betancourt showed the bracelet, revealing it had the number 750 engraved on it. This number means it is made of 18 karat gold. There is also a 925 marking, which indicates the silver content. He sold the bracelet for $480, noting that the market value for pre-owned pieces is often lower. Betancourt has had other successful finds at thrift stores. He mentioned that solid gold items can sell for thousands, especially as gold prices are high. He recently found another gold bracelet worth around $700 to $800. He advises others interested in reselling to do research on brands and materials. The more knowledgeable you are, the better you can spot valuable items. He also recommends regularly visiting thrift stores and flea markets to increase chances of finding treasures.
