Thrissur job fair expects 25,000 candidates on April 26
Thrissur is preparing for a large job fair on April 26, expecting over 25,000 candidates to attend. The event will feature participation from around 200 national and international companies. Local educational institutions, like Thrissur Government Engineering College and Vimala College, will host the fair. The goal is to secure jobs for about 10,000 individuals, as part of the Vijnana Thrissur project. This initiative is a collaboration between the Thrissur district panchayat and other local bodies. T.M. Thomas Isaac, former Finance Minister, mentioned that different career options will be available through this fair. Recently, an online job fair was successful, with 730 participants. Of those, 475 were offered jobs and 183 were shortlisted. This strong interest reflects the demand for jobs among young people. To further assist job seekers, online job drives will be held every Saturday, focusing on different fields. The district has set up 24 job stations in block offices and municipalities to help job seekers register. Volunteers will conduct campaigns to raise awareness about job opportunities. The Vijnana Thrissur project aims not only to create jobs but also to enhance the skills of candidates. Training in skills such as communicative English will be provided by retired educators. This effort is designed to prepare candidates for interviews and improve their chances of success. In total, around 500,000 students are expected to benefit from this comprehensive initiative, which seeks to reduce the number of young people leaving for jobs abroad.
