Thunder Bay is facing a snowfall warning from Environment Canada. The city and nearby areas along Lake Superior's north shore are expected to receive between 15 to 25 centimetres of snow on Sunday. The warning also includes Kakabeka Falls, Marathon, Schreiber, and Nipigon. Meteorologist Jordan Nicholls said a weather system coming from Minnesota is bringing this snow. It is expected to reach Thunder Bay within a few hours. He warned that visibility may be reduced during the snowfall. Nicholls noted that snowfall amounts could vary significantly across the region. Higher elevations may see closer to 25 centimetres, while Thunder Bay might receive around 15 to 20 centimetres. Other areas like Mantiouwadge, Hornepayne, and Atikokan could get up to 15 centimetres of snow as well. While this winter storm is happening, warmer temperatures are on the way. Nicholls indicated highs could reach around 0 degrees Celsius starting next week. With sunny skies expected, much of the snow may melt by mid-week. However, there is still a chance for more winter weather next week. Nicholls mentioned another system could bring snow and freezing rain to parts of Ontario, including northwestern areas. He cautioned that there is still uncertainty about this weather pattern, as it is several days away. Overall, it appears that Thunder Bay and the northwest are not finished with winter just yet.
