ThunderPlus and Turno have teamed up to launch ultra-fast electric vehicle charging stations on Indian highways. This partnership is part of ThunderPlus' goal to have at least one charging station in every district across the country. The first stations will be placed along the Hyderabad-Vizag route. These 1 MW charging stations target not only electric buses but heavy commercial vehicles as well. This effort aims to reduce "range anxiety" for electric vehicle users and help increase the use of electric transportation. Rajeev YSR, CEO of ThunderPlus, mentioned that while the focus is on electric bus operations, the stations will also serve as semi-public charging hubs for other vehicles. Sudhindra Reddy, founder of Electrigo, a Turno subsidiary, expressed enthusiasm for the project. He stated that the goal is to replace 10 crore kilometers of diesel bus travel with electric options by the end of 2026. Currently, charging stations are already functioning in cities like Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Vizag, and Rajahmundry. There are plans to expand this network to more highways in the near future.
