Tim Tooten, veteran WBAL-TV reporter and church minister, dies at 66
Tim Tooten, a respected reporter at WBAL-TV and church minister, passed away at 66 due to medical complications. He was known for his vibrant presence in the newsroom and his dedication to covering Maryland schools. Tooten began his career in broadcasting in 1988 and became a beloved figure for his engaging style, often wearing school hats during newscasts. He also earned an Emmy Award for his documentary work and taught broadcast journalism at Loyola University Maryland. In addition to his journalism career, Tooten founded Harvest Christian Ministries and held a doctorate in divinity. A life celebration will be held on Saturday at Central Christian Assembly of God Church.
