Timberwolves stayed put at trade deadline despite discussions
The Minnesota Timberwolves did not make any trades at the recent deadline, despite some rumors. Reports indicated that the team was interested in Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant, but Timberwolves president Tim Connelly clarified that a deal was never close. Connelly stated, "I don't think we were that close. The trade deadline is 99.5% posturing and lies." He added that the team engaged in discussions with every NBA team but did not get near any significant trades. Connelly emphasized that they weren’t far along in negotiations. The Timberwolves faced challenges early in the season but have seen improvement. After a rocky start, the team has won eight consecutive games and currently sits in the No. 7 seed in the Western Conference. This success has reduced the urgency for trades. The Timberwolves are limited by salary cap rules, which made trades more difficult. Although there could be moves in the offseason, staying with their current roster seems wise given their recent performance.
