Tipperary school honors beloved deputy principal Níamh Heffernan

A school in Tipperary is mourning the loss of a beloved deputy principal, Níamh Heffernan. She passed away on March 17 after a brave battle with illness, surrounded by her family at Milford Care Centre. Níamh was a dedicated teacher at Boher National School and was known for her deep love for her students. Níamh joined Boher National School nearly 20 years ago. The school remembered her as the heart and soul of their community. She not only celebrated her students' achievements but also inspired them to reach their full potential. Her love for sports, especially hurling and camogie, helped foster teamwork and skills among young players. In addition to her teaching, Níamh was actively involved in community projects. The Boher Community Development Group benefited from her tireless efforts to improve local integration and socialization. The school expressed its sadness but also pride in her lasting impact on students and the community. Parents of students paid tribute to Níamh, highlighting her caring nature and approachability. They expressed their condolences to her family, especially her husband John and their young daughter Ailbhe. Her funeral will take place at St John the Baptist Church in Clonoulty, following a visitation at Hayes Funeral Chapel. The community continues to grieve the loss of a truly outstanding individual.
