Tiruchi district has identified over 1,000 cases of tuberculosis (TB) during a recent 100-day health campaign. This initiative aimed to increase awareness and find cases of TB among the population. The campaign, part of the nationwide ‘Ni-kshay Shivir’ program, started on December 7, 2024. It focused on screening people in vulnerable communities, covering a total of 347 districts across India as part of the ‘TB-Mukt Bharat’ program. It concluded on March 17, 2025. During the effort, health officials screened more than 310,000 people in Tiruchi. From the screened individuals, they diagnosed 1,032 new TB cases. Authorities noted the campaign successfully raised awareness about TB and encouraged early identification of cases. S. Savithri, a Deputy Director of Medical Services, emphasized the importance of early reporting to improve treatment success rates. Over 12,000 people also underwent advanced testing methods during the drive.
