Toll-evading trucks create safety risks on Mysuru highway

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

Bengaluru: Heavy trucks are using service roads along the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway to avoid tolls, creating safety risks for smaller vehicles. In response, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has restricted heavy vehicle access to service roads at Toobinakere and Bidadi. NHAI reports that 30-40% of motorists still use service roads despite the tolls. To improve safety, they plan to install more toll booths at 28 entry and exit points and widen service roads where needed. NHAI is also launching projects worth Rs 711 crore, including flyovers and overpasses, to enhance the highway's infrastructure. These projects are expected to be completed in the next two years.
